Get your Motor Running - Head Up on the Hill - Pikes Peak Speedweek is Back!

It’s that time again.  Time to rev up those engines Pikes Peak Speedweek begins June 20th and runs through June 29th this year. It’s an entire week of ongoing events to gear up for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday.  This “Race to the Clouds” as it is called is the second oldest motor sports race in America in its 92nd year this year and a long standing tradition in Colorado Springs.

 

Here are the week’s highlights:

June 20th – 22nd ~ Pikes Peak International Auto Show
June 23rd ~ Technical Inspection
June 24th ~ PPIHC Sanctioned Practice Day
June 25th, 26th, & 27th ~ Practice/Qualifying Days
June 28th ~ Set-Up Day
June 29th ~ Race Day

On June 27th the annual free pre-race celebration, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Fan Fest, will be held in downtown Colorado Springs.  Here you will be able to enjoy festival activities such as a beer garden and live entertainment. Of course you will be able to view the top race qualifying vehicles and maybe grab an autograph or two.   

While you're in the mood for fast don't miss the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack at the Colorado Springs Airport on June 27th and June 28th.  This event will feature the fastest street cars in the nation in a half-mile side-by-side roll race and trap speed competition.  You won’t want to miss it!

Celebrate Father’s Day at Southern Colorado’s Springs Spree

Are you looking for a fun way to spend Father’s Day this year?  Bring dad and grandpa out to the 37th Annual Springs Spree taking place June 14th & 15th for a family day everyone can enjoy.  This is a free city celebration with plenty of entertainment encompassing over 60 locally talented artists along with some renowned headliners, a carnival, a beer garden and more than 200 arts, crafts and food vendors too.   

Also, in conjunction with the Springs Spree, the Urban Springs Adventure Race will be held at Memorial Park on June 14th too.  In this race you earn points by completing challenges and reaching as many destinations as you can on the course.  Everyone, children as well as adults are invited to participate in this event.

Summer is on its Way, What Will you do With the Kids during the Day? It's Day Camp in Colorado Springs!

With summer on its way it’s time to start planning the kids summer days.  Let your children have fun in Colorado’s great outdoors experiencing a summer filled with adventure, exploration, making friends and great memories too.  Let them experience The Snapshot of Summer 2014!

Cheyenne Kidz Camp for campers ages 5 – 12 begins on June 2nd and ends August 1st running weekdays, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Each week your child will explore different themes at our day camp in Colorado Springs:

Lessons in golf, tennis, swim, and beach volleyball along with fun competitions.
