Home to the largest private insect collection in the world, the May Natural History Museum is also known as “the bug museum.” From beetles and butterflies to spiders and scorpions, there are over 7,000 species of bugs preserved here. 1n 1954, the Ghost Town Museum was created to preserve the history of Colorado’s Wild West. The buildings of the museum were salvaged from a number of the area’s abandoned mining towns. From these ghost towns, thousands of artifacts have been preserved and are available for hands-on exploration. Kids will love panning for real gold, cranking a butter churn, and sipping an old-fashioned sarsaparilla.
