Planting The Seeds For A Perfect Family Reunion

4.26 Planning your family reunionToday’s families are more spread out than ever before. As family trees grow and branch out, so do the opportunities for quality time together. But, when families want to get back to their roots and reconnect with relatives from near and far, there is nothing like a good ol’ fashioned family reunion to sow the seeds of family community.

At Cheyenne Mountain Resort, we offer one-of-a-kind experiences and activities to help you plan a fun family reunion that all generations will enjoy.

Build A Canoe

Bring a little healthy competition to your next family gathering with this innovative team challenge. You’ll be divided into teams and each team will be given everything needed to build a canoe. Well, everything except for the instructions! When the building is complete, find out which branch of the family tree has the better design with the Sink or Float Canoe Off, a 50-yard canoe race on our 35-acre private lake.

Cause & Effect Charity Challenge

Strengthen the bonds of family and community when you come together to give back during your family reunion. At Cheyenne Mountain Resort, we are committed to giving back to our community. We offer the opportunity to partner with nonprofit and charitable organizations that are important to Colorado and the Colorado Springs area. Currently, you can choose from projects that benefit our service members, the environment, and pets.

Locally Sourced and Poured

This grown-ups only activity gives you the chance to create a brand new drink. One of our professional mixologists will start off with a short talk on the basics of spirits, after which there will be a quiz to test your mixology skills. But don’t worry if you didn’t catch everything. We’ll divide you into teams so you can pool your family resources together to come up with your answers. Every correct response earns your team the right to select an ingredient for your signature drink. After the quiz, you’ll get your ingredients and get mixing. Members of our Food and Beverage team and our mixologist will sample and judge your cocktail creations.

Cultivating Your Family Reunion Plans

At Cheyenne Mountain Resort, we are honored to be a place where families gather to relax, reconnect, and grow together. We are happy to facilitate group activities where you and your family will make memories to last a lifetime. Are you ready to start planning your Cheyenne Mountain Resort family reunion? Easy And Accessible Hikes In the Colorado Springs

4.19 Easy trails for the novice hikerWith hundreds of miles of trails and stunning natural beauty, Colorado Springs offers some of the most accessible hiking in the state of Colorado. Here at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, we provide the perfect home base for visitors who love to explore our beautiful surrounds. Here are a few of our favorite easy hikes in Colorado Springs:

Garden of the Gods Trails

The awe-inspiring red sandstone rock formations at Garden of the Gods can reach an astounding 300 feet tall. Within the park, there are 15 miles of trails to explore, ranging in difficulty. The easiest trail is the Perkins Central Garden Trail, a 1.5-mile round trip hike on a fully paved concrete path. One of the only stroller and wheelchair accessible trails at the Garden, this trail takes you right up to the base of the park’s most impressive sandstone towers.

Cheyenne Mountain Trails

Cheyenne Mountain State Park offers over 20 miles of trails to explore with some of the most family friendly hiking in the area. Our two favorite trails are Acorn Alley and Sundance. Acorn Alley Trail is a universally accessible pathway, just over half a mile long. It has a gentle slope and is a favorite for leisurely strolls and biking with kids. The Sundance Trail is 3.29 miles along an easy, largely flat loop. On this trail you’ll pass through a prairie dog town, giving you the chance to check out some of the cutest wildlife in Colorado Springs. Sundance leaves from the Limekiln Trailhead parking lot where you’ll find restrooms, picnic tables, and even a playground for the kids.

Seven Bridges Trail

Crossing the North Cheyenne Creek seven times over seven separate bridges in less than two miles makes this trail a unique hiking experience. Although it is not wheelchair accessible, the hike is easy and kids love all the different bridges along the way. The lush trees and plant growth shelter the trail from the heat, making it a perfect hike for hot summer days.

Happy Trails

Come explore the great outdoors on the trails of Colorado Springs. Offering universally accessible trails and fun, family-friendly open spaces, Colorado Springs truly is the place for hiking and taking in all that our area has to offer. And, with our deluxe luxury accommodations, three delicious dining options, and an array of onsite amenities, you’ll love coming back to Cheyenne Mountain Resort after a day on the trails.
