Easy And Accessible Hikes In the Colorado Springs

4.19 Easy trails for the novice hikerWith hundreds of miles of trails and stunning natural beauty, Colorado Springs offers some of the most accessible hiking in the state of Colorado. Here at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, we provide the perfect home base for visitors who love to explore our beautiful surrounds. Here are a few of our favorite easy hikes in Colorado Springs:

Garden of the Gods Trails

The awe-inspiring red sandstone rock formations at Garden of the Gods can reach an astounding 300 feet tall. Within the park, there are 15 miles of trails to explore, ranging in difficulty. The easiest trail is the Perkins Central Garden Trail, a 1.5-mile round trip hike on a fully paved concrete path. One of the only stroller and wheelchair accessible trails at the Garden, this trail takes you right up to the base of the park’s most impressive sandstone towers.

Cheyenne Mountain Trails

Cheyenne Mountain State Park offers over 20 miles of trails to explore with some of the most family friendly hiking in the area. Our two favorite trails are Acorn Alley and Sundance. Acorn Alley Trail is a universally accessible pathway, just over half a mile long. It has a gentle slope and is a favorite for leisurely strolls and biking with kids. The Sundance Trail is 3.29 miles along an easy, largely flat loop. On this trail you’ll pass through a prairie dog town, giving you the chance to check out some of the cutest wildlife in Colorado Springs. Sundance leaves from the Limekiln Trailhead parking lot where you’ll find restrooms, picnic tables, and even a playground for the kids.

Seven Bridges Trail

Crossing the North Cheyenne Creek seven times over seven separate bridges in less than two miles makes this trail a unique hiking experience. Although it is not wheelchair accessible, the hike is easy and kids love all the different bridges along the way. The lush trees and plant growth shelter the trail from the heat, making it a perfect hike for hot summer days.
