A Look at the History of The Country Club of Colorado

The history of The Country Club of Colorado dates back to 1967 when Charles Gate bought 3,000 acres of land that was the Cheyenne Mountain Ranch. His vision was to create a community of homes, shopping centers, hotels, restaurants and recreation areas. The focal point of that vision was The Country Club of Colorado. In 1973 the Club opened nine holes and right from the beginning it was a success. The golf course continued to be built around Curr Reservoir, a spring-fed lake.
