Challenging Pikes Peak Race Set for August

This portion of the Triple Crown of Running series makes for a weekend of endurance.

Pike's Peak Race

Are you ready for America's ultimate challenge? It's time once again for the Pikes Peak Ascent & Marathon that will take place on August 15 and 16, 2015, and marks the 60th anniversary of this prestigious event.

If there's one word to describe this Pikes Peak race, it's unpredictable. Not only do you have to run incredible uphill distances, but also face potentially drastic weather changes of up to 50 degrees between the starting line and finish. Elevation gain of the race from start to summit is a challenging 7,815' (2,382m)!

The races are not for new runners! The half marathon takes place on the 15th, while Pikes Peak Marathon comes the following morning on August 16, with qualifiers needing to have completed either race in the past three years or have completed a half-marathon in under 2:25:00 or a marathon in under 5:45:00.

Part of the Triple Crown of Running series, runners can take on either Pikes Peak race as well as the Garden of the Gods 10M, and the Summer RoundUp Trail Run for the ultimate endurance accomplishment.

Before and after these races, it's a good idea to get some rest, and there's nothing better than Cheyenne Mountain Resort for the ultimate in relaxing accommodations. Schedule a much deserved massage at our newly opened Alluvia Spa to refresh those race-weary muscles or take a dip in our heated outdoor pool then sit by our fire pits and enjoy the majestic view of the mountains you just conquered.  Visit our website for more information.

There are plentiful salmon selections, including dishes with mango salsa, as well as a rotating selection of hearty, chef-curated salads that make a filling meal on their own.
