Experience the Ultimate in Runner’s High at the Pikes Peak Ascent® and the Pikes Peak Marathon®

Pikes Peak Marathon

This strenuous one of a kind racing event begins at the base of Pikes Peak in Manitou Springs and is referred to as America’s Ultimate Challenge® for a reason.  The marathon will stretch over 7,815 feet to the top in rugged terrain all while you battle altitude changes, vertical inclines and possibly dramatic changes in the weather too.

It all began in 1956 when founder of the Pikes Peak races, Dr. Arne Suominen, challenged cigarette smokers to a race him up and down Pikes Peak.  This award-winning race has grown into the world championship of mountain running with this being its 59th year.

The event kicks-off on Friday August 15th with an Expo and Pre-Race Carbo feed. The Pikes Peak Ascent®, 13.3 miles, will take place on Saturday, August 16th and the round-trip Pikes Peak Marathon® on Sunday, August 17th.  More information can be found on the official Pikes Peak Marathon Website.

Cheyenne Mountain Resort located less than 10 miles from the starting line is the relaxing place to spend your nights after these exhausting runs.  Escape to a night of tranquility surrounded by picturesque views after a delectable dinner in our Mountain View Restaurant or a muscle quenching swim in one of our pools.
